As a local public works agency headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, the Franklin County Engineer's Office is responsible for the maintenance and construction of 271 miles of county roadway and 351 county bridges, as well as upkeep of all county ditches, drains, retention basins, and other storm water facilities within the right-of-way of county roads in unincorporated areas. To meet the continuing development and infrastructure needs of Franklin County, the Engineer's Office utilizes the latest technologies for determining and maintaining roadway centerlines and boundaries; retracing and setting new monuments for original public land surveys; preparing geographic information system mapping for real estate tax assessments; and establishing precise countywide horizontal and vertical control to maintain uniformity in construction, surveying, and mapping.

We’re just one week away from the 5th Annual Central Ohio Miniature Bridge Building Competition! For the third consecutive year, the Franklin County Engineer’s Office, in partnership with the Central Ohio Association of Bridge Construction and Design, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and The Ohio State University, is proud to host this hands-on STEM event on Friday, February 7, 2025. This year, 175 teams and over 400 high school students from five counties will compete to design and build bridges with the highest load-to-weight capacity ratio. Fiscal Department

Fiscal Department





The Fiscal Department is responsible for the coordination of the budget of the Franklin County Engineer’s Office and its various operations and projects. They oversee all purchase orders, payables, receivables, construction contract preparation and bid openings, local and grant funding, budget preparation and fiscal adjustments, and audit reviews. In performing this work, they work closely with the administrators and departments of the County Engineer, County Auditor, and County Commissioners.
